Event Theme Inspiration

Create a stunning themed event – whatever the occasion

In this blog we take a look at event themes and the ways in which you can incorporate various ideas and colours to your events to make sure your theme stands out and is well received by your guests. There are tonnes of themes to choose from when planning an event and the type of theme you choose will be dependent on your personality and style, location and colours.

You might be considering a Shabby Chic affair for your wedding or a Winter Wonderland theme for your corporate Christmas party.

Either way we have some ideas that will hopefully inspire you to create whichever theme it is you are trying to achieve.

Vintage Themed Events

Vintage can mean different things to different people with a huge variety of options available for creating your desired event. A vintage theme should recall memories of “the good old days” or the “golden years.” Even if you weren’t born in the 50s, 60s, or 70s – chances are you have an image in your mind of what life might have been like then. People knew how to let loose and dance the night away.

Vintage glamour calls for plenty of sophisticated and opulent details, such as pearls, damask prints, crystals, jewels, feathers and chandeliers. A common colour of the theme is a deep, saturated red often paired with lots of sparkling gold.  Red roses are an all time must for any vintage themed event!

Rustic themed events tend to happen from the months of September to as late as February and takes its inspiration from nature and often pulls from the changing leaves of fall. Rustic themes events work very well being held in venues such as wineries, barns, outdoor tents, historic houses, or completely outdoors. A rustic themed event relies heavily on the colours, textures and motifs of nature.

Floral arrangements can either be wild and unkempt, boasting single windflower arrangements or full and neat, featuring wild flowers and other rustic accessories such as twigs or berries.

When decorating an event with a rustic theme, keep in mind the types of tables, chairs, vases, and lighting that you’ll need to use. Popular lighting choices include string lights and lanterns. Popular tables include picnic tables or tables with distressed finishes. Natural wood, warm colours and a cosy atmosphere are all key features of a rustic event.

Fairy Tale Themed Events

Fairy tale events create a magical and mystical environment for your guests and should inspire them to feel as if they are actually in the fairy tale with you.

The decor should be whimsical, magical and should portray a sense of luxury and will typically take decorating cues from story books and movies such as Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty.

Fairy tale themed parties include organza arches, candles, soft lighting, plenty of glitter and shimmer, balloon or canopy ceilings and star motifs.

The decorations are soft and airy and these type of events are glamorously designed and overdone. Flowers are full, soft, and feminine – think peonies, roses, hydrangeas and tulips. You may wish to incorporate magic wands, fairies, crowns and tiaras or other fairy tale decorations into the event. The key to the event is sparkle, sparkle and more sparkle!
